WHAT IS DEI?
DEI stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Diversity can be defined as the ways individuals differ from another, while equity and inclusion are the actions we take in regard to those individuals.
Equity is the equal treatment and access provided, while
Inclusion is the action we take to incorporate individuals in all aspects of the community.
Individuals in one or more of the following groups benefit from DEI initiatives: LGBTQIA+, minority race and/or ethnicity, veterans, first-generation and non-traditional students, individuals affected by disability and neurodiversity, formerly incarcerated or impacted by incarceration, former foster youth, and individuals affected by financial barriers, among others.
Oklahoma State University’s Commitment to DEI
Oklahoma State University’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion extends beyond the campus community. By providing an overview of DEI practices in recruiting, OSU Career Services hopes to aid employers in creating inclusive environments for students and alumni as they enter the workforce.

EMPLOYER AND RECRUITER RESOURCES
When recruiting students and alumni, it’s important to know what they expect out of their future employers. This guide to
Identifying an Inclusive Employer is used as a resource by potential candidates searching for their next step. Other common research tools include
Glassdoor,
LinkedIn, and
Great Place to Work. Research what is already being said about your organization, especially on social media, to get an accurate picture of how candidates might view your DEI efforts. Consider improving those efforts by exploring these resources.
